Musings: What is your Priority Tomorrow
What’s your #1 priority tomorrow?
Letters to the Prompt
The prompt asks “What’s your #1 priority tomorrow?
When asked, “What’s your #1 priority tomorrow?” I find myself drawn to an honest reflection—one that acknowledges the way we perceive the world, not necessarily as it will be, but as it is to us. David Hume once argued that our expectations are inherently irrational, yet this very irrationality is part of what makes us human. How else could one explain Donald J. Trump finding his way to the White House?
Upon further thought, however, there is a simple, rational priority that stands out: waking up and witnessing the sunrise. For me, the sunrise holds profound meaning. It offers a daily reminder of life’s beauty and the promise each day carries. Shakespeare captures this sentiment perfectly in Sonnet 33:
“Full many a glorious morning have I seen
Flatter the mountain-tops with sovereign eye,
Kissing with golden face the meadows green,
Gilding pale streams with heavenly alchemy;”
The sunrise evokes both energy and grace, even when it is briefly hidden by clouds. It reminds me, in its fleeting yet radiant appearance, that life’s moments are precious. And, with this awareness, I embrace each day knowing it could very well be the last.
